Hillsborough County

The Hillsborough County Environmental Lands Acquisition Program acquires environmental lands. Most are open to the public. County Parks also provide opportunities for native plant exploration.

Florida State Parks

Several state parks are close by. Favorites for natives include:

  • Hillsborough River State Park
  • Little Manatee River State Park
  • Werner-Boyce Salt Spring State Park
  • Colt Creek State Park

Southwest Florida Water Management District

The water management district (SWFWMD) is one of the largest owners of natural lands in the state. Many are good places to explore. Favorites for natives include:

  • Lower Hillsborough River (includes the county wilderness park system)
  • Cypress Creek
  • Starkey Wilderness Area (includes the Pasco County Starkey Park)
  • Green Swamp
  • many more!

More

Pasco, Pinellas, Manatee, and Polk counties all have parks and nature areas worthy of exploration.

The Florida Division of Forestry and Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission have lands with good recreational potential.
